How to Salvage Sell a damaged RV

Need some contact information. Our RV roof was damaged by wind (I think, was in open winter storage). Estimate was $7 K+ for repairs and insurance says they will not cover it. I've been hassling with insurance since April, and am considering just salvaging the old RV as court costs are unknown. Can anyone give me info on who buys damaged RVs. It's a '98 Class A model, V-10 gas, with about 12-13 K miles, complete and in pretty good condition save about 1/3 of roof gone and some minimal internal water damage. NADA prior to damage was ~ $19 K with all the accessories. Interested in what would be salvage value to help make decision on path to take. Thanks.

What reason does insurance give for not covering it? I thought that was what insurance was for. I have also heard your homeowners insurance might cover it.

Look at the website for "crankyape". They auction all kinds of RVs with or without damage. I have never had occasion to sell on the site but have had good experience buying. YMMV.

Have a nice day - Darrel

You can try to sell it "as is", locally or on ebay, crankyape, craigslist, etc. Try to find somebody who is willing to take on a DIY project.

If you are looking for somebody to take it off your hands quickly rather than hoping for a private buyer, try an RV salvage yard such as Colaw RV Salvage or Visione RV.
Don't expect to get much from a salvage dealer, though. They will pay only for the value os usable - and readily salable - parts, so just pennies on the dollar.

I guess the "Why" is a problem. they calling it an "Act of God"? for not covering it.!

talk to a Lawyer... I am not fond of them. but at times Needed.

any other way the RV is a LOSS... or near it.

My main awning unfurled in a wind storm, insurance covered the $4,000.00 in damage, I paid the $250.00 deductible. Seems similar to you situation.
