How to Tighten Mirror

I have a Thor MC with the duel Velvac mirrors.. Duel meaning the top is a standard mirror and the lower 1/3 is the convex mirror for the wider view. The problem is the upper electric mirrors vibrate and shake when traveling. The frames of the mirrors are tight its all in the mirror itself. I see no way to remove the glass or tighten the mirror glass where it won't shake.

I did find small clips of the outside edge of the mirror that presses onto the sides of the mirror frames. When I bent them slightly to put more pressure on the frames to steady the mirrors the motors would not adjust the mirror glass. I know its either too little pressure and the mirror vibrates or too much and the adjustor motor will not move the mirror glass..

Has anyone any ideas on how to tighten up the mirror glass so they are solid and not vibrating when traveling??

I called Velvac.. they were clueless.

Yep. You will find a plastic screw cap on the bottom arm of the mirror. Remove the cap and you will find a hex-head which tightens up the head to the arm. A standard Allen wrench will work great!

Easy peasy.

It's not the glass that need tightening, it's the hex-head that tightens the head to the arm.

I've done everything to try to reduce vibrations while driving. Nothing fixed it. Maybe some rubber isolators at the mounting to the coach might help.

If anyone has a fix for the remote adjustable part of the mirror, please let us know.

The manual lower part of the Velvac mirror on our 16 Tiffin Phaeton does not vibrate; however the remote adjustable mirror part is worthless due to excessive vibration.

The original drivers side was replaced under warranty and is worse than the original. I talked to Velvac, the dealer, and Tiffin with no help other than to replace the 4 retaining clips (which do not fix the issue).

NOTE: THE MIRROR HOUSING AND ARM ARE TIGHT AND DO NOT VIBRATE--ONLY THE REMOTE ADJUSTABLE MIRROR PART!

I have not given up and am pressing the fact that this creates an unsafe driving situation and must have a resolution.

The Allen screws allow adjustment of the mirror head and arms, but won't affect the vibration of the glass within the mirror head. I don't think the Allen screws will solve tanman's problem.

Vibrating glass in the mirror head sounds like a Velvac quality issue to me. They used to build excellent stuff.

The dealer tech that replaced my drivers side mirror due to the vibration (no improvement) said the vibration is caused by play between the adjustment mechanism and the mirror--too much slack.

The dealer is working with Tiffin for a fix. As stated earlier, I will stay after this for a resolution.
