Wow, what a question ! If you have an RV of any kind you should have a plan for this type of event and should have left two days ago. Consider yourself lucky that you have the means to get out and have a place to stay after all the carnage.
Good luck !

yep ditto.
if you can leave and take the hotel with you, take it.
i know they forecast the end of the world, but 140mph winds and up to 2 feet of rain, not to mention the days of rain expected like we had last year with harvey...

The state has ordered a Mandatory evacuation, What I'm real concerned about is should I take our RV TT and head out? There is going to be Tropical Storm force winds just about through the whole state of SC an I don't want to be stuck in traffic, and there is going to be traffic, lot's of it, especially with 25-60 mph winds.

There are a crazy amount of RV's here especially Fifth-Wheels, not sure what they are doing.

I did check my insurance, (Progressive) to see that TT would be covered., and it is. Just not sure if I want to take it.

What do you all think?

Hook up and get the heck out of there. With your rolling home! Don’t think twice!

Florence

SOMETHING I JUST READ

Bristol Motor Speedway is joining several other NASCAR tracks to once again open its campground to help those trying to get out of the path of Hurricane Florence.
Evacuees needing info should call toll free (866) 415-4158. The campgrounds opened on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those in the path of Hurricane Florence," said the official statement from Bristol Motor Speedway.

YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE 2 HOMES, ONE YOU CAN SAVE.
I WOULD RUN, SOON ---FAST & FAR
GOOD LUCK TO ALL

22 sections eh? Hmmm, well ya know, I’m kinda gettin tired of Spokane, and I might get laid off from my job in December, and was kinda sorta thinking of retiring around then....what’d say that address was again?

The bad news is that the fires in Wasco County hit us hard.and it is all dry land farming....

Living in FL I've given this some thought if a hurricane is forecast. We've only had our motorhome a year and a half and when Irma hit last year we were in upstate N.Y so were unaffected. Our house was fine except for some blown down tree limbs.

However some comments from friends that were in the path of Irma got me to thinking. One with a 36 ft gasser and went to central Alabama from central FL. They left early but central Alabama was the first place they could find a campground that had room.

Another friend with a 38' DP waited until the forecast had Tampa in it's direct path and went to Jacksonville, FL and stayed at a relatives place. But Irma didn't follow the forecast and followed him right up the state. By the time Irma got to Jacksonville it had dissipated enough so as not to be an issue. He waited too late and said the traffic on I75 was so bad he was unsure he would get to Jacksonville before it hit.

I usually store my motorhome with a full tank of fuel so I have about a 650 mile range - no traffic. That should get me out of any hurricane's path. But deciding when to leave can be a challenge. Leaving too early and you just wasted a bunch of time and money. Too late and well.....

Finding a campground can be a challenge too. We're 60 ft long when towing our car and finding a suitable campground can be difficult when everyone's looking for one. I haven't found many Walmart parking lots I'd want to maneuver in.

Yes the answer is leaving early, but how early. That answer is easy until you actually have to do it.

The latest update shows Florence jogging South toward Myrtle Beach as it gets close to landfall. But this could change several times before it makes landfall. When I was in the New Orleans area for Katrina I did not have an RV, but I wish I did. If you have one hit the road while you can. If you wait you will sit in traffic for hours, plus you will start to have trouble finding essentials like fuel, food, water, etc.

Go while you can!!!

This would be a good way to get rid of your TT if you don't like it - let the storm take it and get the insurance money for possibly another.
Otherwise, take the advice of all the others and hookup and run.

We watched Irma's approaching track and as I was contemplating our track out of FL I saw that 1) the entire state was covered by Irma by then even though Irma was still south of the state 2) the Bands preceding the eye, in the NE quadrant were loaded with Tornadoes and were already 100 miles north of us. There was no way out without heading INTO harms way - the bands were just as dangerous as the total storm.
So at least in FL you have to make your decision to leave early.

Atlanta Motor Speedway opens campgrounds to Florence evacuees

From the Article:

The campgrounds will be free to those for dry RV and tent campers in the Legends Campground. A limited number of camping spaces with water, power and sewer have been made available for a nominal fee of $20 per night in the Premier Campground.

I live in Greensboro, was ready to leave today if needed. Appears to be shifting south of us. Will probably stay at stick and brick now.

If we lived in Myrtle we probably would have left Monday or Tuesday. Easy for me to say, it is a personal decision.

Our second row lot in Beaufort County will likely be 3-5 feet under water with the surge.

Hoping for the best.
