I can't find the thread on discount fuel methods/cards

I know there are several threads on this subject but I cannot find the most recent ones on the subject of fuel discounts, gas buddy, CC, club cards or combination of CC and club cards. I have found older posts 2017 2015 but not the most recent. Point me in the right direction. Or if you have a way to save at the pump please share.

Flying J RV Plus charge card is a good one. The discount isn’t that much but the convenience is worth it. No shut off on the limit of fuel and you can start the diesel pumps in the truck lanes without going inside.

I use Kroger card. I don't generally shop for groceries there, but my ex MIL does and she doesn't use her gas points so she gave me her second card to use at the pumps. I get 3 cent discount on the average fill up and an occasional 10-20 cent a gallon discount depending on her shopping for the month.

The Kroger I use is easy to get a larger trailer thru. Big rigs often fill up there on the outside pumps.

- Use Gas Buddy to find the cheapest fuel.

-Stay away from truck stops, they add at least .10 to .30 cents a gallon.

- Find a credit card with cash back features. Pentagon Federal pays back 5%, not .05 cents, but 5% on fuel.

Credit Card with highest cash back on purchases.......then pay it off each month

Kroger Brand (large umbrella company)
We shop Fry's and get fuel points. Buy gift cards and get 2X points, shop on weekends during summer for 4X points, weekly survey/50 points each time etc
Typically we end up with $.50/gal discount MINIMUM just doing normal routine shopping plus get 5% cash back using CC
BUT limited to 35 gallons per month for the fuel discount.

Rest of time.....purchase fuel at cheapest station using cash back CC

I have a Freightliner with twin 50 gallon saddle tanks. It is much easier to use the truck stops such as Pilot which have pumps on both sides of each lane. Plus they have a DEF dispenser at each pump.

It typically costs 20-30 cents more than other stations that you can see from where you are standing....and the Good Sam discount is a joke....5 cents.

The truckers that fuel in the truck stops get a much better discount I am sure.

Thanks for the replies. I have recently read that Pen National had done away with the 5% reward but I just looked them up and they are giving 3 to 5% back with a platinum card. Not sure what that means. The Kroger thing looks good for a toad. I am planning on burning 200 gallons a month in the rv.
RONLC (or anyone who can answer) The Good sam's discount, is this the credit card or just the membership card you are referring to?

I was wondering, Sam's Club credit card gives 5% back. If Good's Sam Membership gives a discount (.05) at Pilot/J when you put the card in (and is not the credit card) then pay with Sam's Credit Card (5%). Maybe getting two discounts. I also wonder if Kroger does the same thing.

Is anyone doing this?

I also use a Sam's Club credit card and get the 5% off fuel. The Good Sam discount is just for showing your Good Sam membership card.

This is also what we use. We get $.09 off the cash price, the monthly amount is taken from a bank account.
