I need your help
I have reservations in Yellowstone on 5/16 at Fishing Bridge. This is my first trip there and will be going in the East entrance. I am worried about the weather. For the next 10 days they are prediciting snow/showers. The highest temp for the next 10 days is only 42 and every night is in the 20's. The snow has me worried. Should I cancel or Go?

How brave are you??
How well are you set up for cold weather?
What are you traveling in and are thier any children going?
Lots of thoughts for you to handle before you turn the key.
Good Luck

Have to agree with Larry. It depends on what kind of RV you have and if you have ever traveled before in snow with it. Do you have heated tanks, etc.??

According to the website, the East entrance road will only open on May 6. I also saw on some other posts that there are electrical problems at Fishing Bridge so make sure your site has electric to run your furnace at night. Also unhook your water hose at night.
Where are you driving from? You can always drive to Cody, WY and decide what to do when you get there. Most of the time the snow showers will be overnight so you can schedule to be on the road between 10am and 4pm when the weather is the warmest.

things to think about to make cold weather camping fun
They tell me that this is the time to see yellow stone! The snow and cold air is a good setting for pictures. Make sure you take plenty of cold weather gear, spare blankets ,and a full tank of propane. In cold weather i use a tank of propane in 1 or 2 weeks. depending on how I have the thermostats set. We don't get real cold here in north east Tx. how ever I spent all last Deer season living in the woods, out backing it. Keep in mind if you dont have full hock ups your batterys have to stay charged, cold temperatures and low battery's are not a good combination. If you haven't replaced your battery's lately you might have them checked, better to replace them where they are cheep than at a point in time where it is cold and you can't start anything to stay warm. Just a thought. We have camped from here to California and back, several times. If you per pair for the worst there are no surprises and every trip is a good trip. Have lots of fun take lots of pictures

Personally I would not worry about staying there in the cold---but getting there is another matter.
I have a set of tire chains, big commercial type, in my rig just hoping they rust in the bag before I ever "have" to use them.
Many of the routes I travel have road cams I can access from my computer and also hot lines for state road conditions from my cell phone. When faced with the same go no go dedision I monitor them closely.
Can you access any real time road info? It might help. Good luck.

My friend has to report for summer employment on Tuesday, (2nd) They toldl him the roads were too bad for him to tow the fiver in so he is going in his car and staying in dorm. His wife will show up with the rig on the 19th. He already has been told he will be plowing roads until they are cleared.

well I decided to stay in Cody. I think the snow and roads will keep me from getting in the East entrance. The weather reports show snow as late as 5/12. If the roads are open I will drive the 50 miles to the entrance and see what I can.
Thanks for your help, Tom

If your in Cody, go downtown and across the street from the movie theater is a old two story hotel that has a great deal on prime rib. I forget the name. Just east of the wild bill museum. Bunch of crappy motels though.
