I'm sure many of you will be familiar with this while I'm sure others are not and will be interested to see.
My son owns a Ice Castle which is basically a rv tt designed for ice fishing in the winter and also camping in the summer. It has ac, furnace, stove, oven satellite tv, stereo, a bathroom which is shall we say primitive.
3 bunks and a table that breaks down into another bed.
Cabinet storage and even a doggy door for the fall months when you have your hunting dog along for the pheasant hunt.
Of course it has 6 holes in the floor to ice fish through. When not in use there are tight fitting plastic covers to close them off.

I took a few pics on one of our recent trips. We were on Red Lake in northern Mn. Very large lake. It can get pretty isolated out there!

That's a neat set-up. When you live and work in the north country you just can't take off and head south for the winter. The alternative is to set things up for some comfort while doing things like ice fishing.

We did some of that on Lake superior in mid February and on Lk. MI up by Traverse City. Snowmobile, sled and some sort of wind break was all we had. I took my 8 year old out. It was fun.

Lake St Clair in MI has hundreds of ice fishing shanties on it during the winter. It's like a small city.

That is neat looks like it is sitting quite low. Do you take the wheels off?

It's designed with wheel wells cut way above the actual tire. The house then cranks down to just above the tire to actually sit on the ice.

Is there a generator to power it up? And my biggest question.......Why a roof top A/C unit? Does he run it much while ice fishing

Love it! I only ice fished in PA during cold winters back in the 70s and 80s. I do miss it sometimes and then remember how danged cold it is out there on a frozen lake. I wouldn't risk a trailer on the ice around here but that sure looks like fun!

It's more designed around ice fishing but is certainly a serviceable camper in the summer. Especially if your out hunting and need a base camp.
In this part of the country it's nice to have a toy that can be used year around especially when you are paying lots of $$ for said toy.

Heck I have a mh I paid twice as much for that I can only use 5 months of the year up here and that's if you're lucky.

Yep use a generator out on the ice but it can also use shore power for summer camping.

This is far superior then what I grew up with. One of my last memories of ice fishing in Northern Wisconsin was huddled behind a pickup truck with winds howling around us. I believe the wind chills were -40 F.

Living on a lake for many more years than I care to consider at the moment, have spent a fair amount of time in an ice shanty, but nothing like that one! I have seen some of the huts used out on Lake Huron though. It looks like those guys just move out onto the ice when the lake freezes....

Thanks for the memories! Some of which may contain a bottle, and sore knees from crawling across the ice for 1/2 mile to get home.....

Been waiting for a week for my brother to call to go Ice Fishing on Lake Sara he lives there and we can just drive off his beach and onto the Lake

. He bought a used Ice Castle Last Summer.
He bought it as a package deal. The old timer had a Chev 4x4 W/plow and in the rear 2 big Propane tanks and 2 generators secured to the bed & the ice house that had a interior like yours.
Boy I can hardly wait.
Nice Perch, I believe. I love them, very good tasting in the winter.
Have you ever over nighted? I've wanted to go too Lake Malacks(sp) and spend a week Fishing.
How are the nights with the wind howling by? Stay pretty warm? I know they are insulated but just curious. I wish I would of been the inventor for those bottom less buckets in the hole I'd be driving a New Prevost.
