Bought a 2013 Crossroads, 4 years ago. A list as long as your arm with poor quality control. Picked up a 2001 SunnyBrook two months ago. Everything original is still working great. Built better than my 13. Taking it out next week for a trip to the beach.

If RVs were airplanes a basic travel trailer would cost 500 grand.

Sure, I wouldn't hesitate buying a new RV if built to the same standards as an airplane. Airplanes are built to such strict tolerances and quality that it would be a no brainer if an RV was built to the same ultra-high standards.
Both airplanes and RV's are, for the most part, hand built. Airplanes are subject to constant quality control checks. There is no reason, except for production costs, that an RV couldn't be built to the same quality standards as an airplane.

I think he means if the airplane was built to the 'exacting standards' of an RV[emoji12]

Wouldn't buy a plane built to new rv standards. Wouldn't buy a car built to new rv standards. Won't buy a new rv built to new rv standards.

There are no standards in the RV business, just take your money.

If airplanes were built like RV's, The gate agent would be issuing parachutes at boarding....

Well, I might be exaggerating: a new Cessna 172 only costs about *300* grand.
It's not just new planes: airplane parts are quite expensive even when they're identical to their automotive counterparts (insert famous story about Piper selling tampons for $10 as air filters).
And changing anything? Forget it: a complicated (and often unachievable) field approval process. Hope you didn't want to add solar or sway bars or any one of a billion things people like to change on their RVs.
Don't forget about the mandatory, expensive annual inspection (100 hour for rentals!)
RVs would be more reliable, sure, but they wouldn't be much fun to own, either.

Just sold my 1980 Bonanza A36 for $164,000. A new Bonanza A36 is 7~900K or more. Only difference (other than new everything) are the advanced avionics. Even my 1980 plane is maintained at a higher standard than a new RV. I purchased my Monaco used not only for the cost factor but feel that the quality control was better at that time.

Me thinks that there are thousands of folks that are not having much fun owning the RV they currently have.
