Ignition problem hoping you can help me out.

1988 chevy e350 28' camer "the conquest"
so its been sitting outside with a roof leak.
at first i knew there was an alternator problem i had someone give me boost 5 minutes and 3 blocks later ( a block from my destination) my engine shuts off. I had to push this 11k lbs beast into a parking spot luckily i had help. he doesnt know much about ignition but he is going to be getting rid of the coach for me(demo and disposal) think 500 is enough?

my biggest issue and what i hope someone cal help me with his why would the engine shut off? i thought once the engine kicked off it didnt need the battery to stay on.

I tried booting it up again but this time the starter didnt pay any inrest it clicked once or twice after that it wouldnt make any sound except for one click when i turned the key. the radio/ windshield wipers still work.

I think distribution cap, idea please?

Sounds like the battery is bad. It doesn't take much to run radio or wipers, but must have a lot of juice to crank and keep it running.

Just the battery though? Because it seemed like a fresh battery
