Imagine a MH chassis built like this

Amazing, wonder if it will really happen.

That will be a nice option for the trucking industry if it comes to fruition. I can't imagine what the cost will be for the RV industry.

Pretty amazing but the cost must be HUGE. They showed a lease payment for a traditional tractor ($1,200.00) and for their electric unit ($5,000) That translates to around $500,000.00 or there abouts. But still, the hill climbing speed vs a traditional diesel tractor was 40 for the diesel and 65 for the electric.
It will interesting to see one up close once they're on the road (if they make it)

It's probably the future, but I can't imagine the teething problems early adopters will encounter.

The concept is pretty good. I think cost will make it prohibitive at least initially. Lending them to high end coaches like Newell and Prevost.

It's a fuel cell...by-product of the space travel industry. Add Hydrogen...water and electricity are created.
Already in some cars:
https://ssl.toyota.com/mirai/fcv.html
and The Honda Clarity.
It's coming, but first large fuel cells must be mass produced to drop the price and a network of Hydrogen fueling stations must be added to the existing fossil fuel network.
That's actually not a big lift for the existing companies...and can be produced on-site by cracking H2O into Hydrogen and Oxygen with electric power.

My 1961 science fair project was a hydrogen/oxygen fuel cell I built based on a description in Popular Science. it worked. Got first place at the local level but lost at the state level to a linear accelerator that the guy threatened to demonstrate.

how can they compare MPG between the 2 cases?
Stopping distance, I suspect tire to road friction is much more limiting than how you stop the wheel rotation.

But ... the price includes fuel for the first million miles. The disadvantage for the in RV to the 1,200 mile range. I assume that's because there is no hydrogen fuel network. I can see this working really well for the bus industry.

Look at the figures they are using. What truck is 20000# we are talking 80000#. Dual stops most truck have 200 gallon tanks. Mileage 20000# will be in the 14 MPG range. And their 6% grade calcs, my 40' towing would do 55 on a 6% no problem and I weighed in way more than their 2000#. How many fuel station have you seen, can you say infrastructure.
Not a bad idea but let's get facts not fiction.

The 20000 pound figure used is the high end of the approximate weight of a 3-axle tractor.

Great but how are you going to make $$$$ with no load! 80000# aint gunna get 14 MPG.
They are painting a rosie pic with tainted factoids.
