In your experience do most truck stops have separate "RV" lanes for refueling or do you use the same lanes the truckers use?

Just personal preference, but I always use the truck lanes, when I can. I don't believe I've seen one that has RV lanes, but my travel has been limited, so I'm sure I've missed them.

I have seen truck stops (Flying J) with both. I pulled into one Flying J with predominant signs pointing the way to the RV pumps. I looked at the access and decided it was too tight. I talked to the attendant who said just use the truck lanes.

I have the RV Flying J charge card so I can complete the transaction at the truck pumps without having to go in.

The truck lanes for me, but I also have Super C and the dual fill of the truck lanes is what I need for dual tanks. Be aware the truck lanes have the large diam high flow nozzles, which may fill too fast for some MH tanks. Also the large diam nozzles will not fit pickup tanks, they need the smaller diam nozzles like used on the RV islands.

For the question of if most truck stops have RV islands, I say generally yes they do.

Flying J is the only one I know of that sometimes have RV lanes. I never use the truck lanes unless I'm dangerously low on fuel because my PenFed cash rewards card will not give me the 5% rebate unless I pay at the pump, which I can't do at the truck pumps.

The Lee Hi Truck Stop in westerns Virginia on US81 & US64 has separate gas stations. We stayed at their terraced campground overlooking the truck stop and the view was great plus the 24 hour store and dinner was a bonus. pull through with full hook ups. some play ground equipment and laundry facilities. bathhouse with hot showers

Both. I do use the rv lanes when available.

Dedicated RV lanes used to be the exclusive claim of Flying J truck stops. Now, a number of years since they and Pilot merged, many of the Pilots also have one. That said, not all of them were well thought out in terms of egress. I got stuck in one when a full size pickup parked in one of the parking spaces right across from the RV lane exit.

If you have a gasser, you have no choice, if a diesel pusher, it's a no brainer - use the truck lanes. The downside there is for most truck stops you have to go into the building twice, once to get them to start the pump, the second time to reconcile what you actually pumped with what they pre-charged you for. That's why the Flying J / Pilot RV card is so popular - it lets you start and pay at the pump.

You might add a description of your RV to your signature. It helps others tailor a response to what you have.

The deal with the truck lanes is that truckers are not paying with cash. They're paying with a company credit card that requires them to put mileage and a password. It's part of the way fleets keep track of their fuel usage, and how they watch for fuel theft, kickbacks, etc. (That's an old trucker pay supplement.)

I used to have such a card for my work.

But the Flying J card lets you use the truck lanes, and it's often a much more efficient way to fuel with their fast pumps.

Mostly "Flying J" and a few Pilot. Other than that, it's a crap shoot finding RV fuel lanes.

Don't know if the RV lanes even have DEF.

I usually hit a Pilot/FlyingJ for diesel and use the truck lanes so that I can also get bulk DEF. I have their charge card and can start the pump at the pump but ALWAYS have to go in for a receipt. With the Pilot/FlyingJ charge card I get the cash price. I had to experiment with just how to hold the nozzle (rotated 180 degrees to keep the auto shutoff from triggering) and to listen to the sound so that I don't bathe myself with diesel. Sometimes hard to hear with idling diesels beside you. You'll get the hang of it after pumping several hundred gallons.

I have used the RV lanes, especially when I need to dump the tanks.

You are wrong on the pickup truck filler. I know for a fact that GM trucks from 2005 up have a filler that the large pipe WILL fit. Have used them many times, as long as you use a low setting on the nozzle. S-I-L has a 2005 and works for him also. My guess is most newer trucks will be OK.

Hey onespot...let's not give away info on Lee-Hi c/g....lol...nice little campground...with all that you need for the night...Chuck..been going there maybe 3 or 4 years
