Welcome to iRV2 .

Before you buy anything , do you have a vehicle you're thinking of towing ?
Is it 4 down tow able ?

If you go to this site and enter the vehicle info , you can get info on what you'll need if it is .

Store : Remco

Then if you want to buy the used items visit the Demco site to see if they sell a " base plate " to attach the bars to your vehicle . The bars are only part of the hook up.

We have the Demco Excalibar and a Brake Buddy. The Excalibar is all steell and well built. Absolutely no problems in 13 years with ours. I did take the Excalibar apart last year, clean it, install new seal and boots. Was about $40 in parts. Its just like new.
Brake buddy has performed perfectly all this time. Had it looked at last year at a show and it was given a clean bill of health.
Motorhome Magazine has towing guides going back a number of years so you can look up what vehicles can be towed.
You will need a baseplate installed on the vehicle to be towed. They run around $300 for the plate plus labor.
For the Brake Buddy you will want/need the break away switch to put on the toad. They do sell them as a kit. Been a while so I can't tell you the approx $.
If you are handy, the typical baseplate and break away switch can be self installed in 3-5 hours. Last one I did on our Edge took 5 hours. Toughest part was routing the break away switch cable.

Demco Excali-Bar II and brake buddy Vantage select too...
both work great but if I had to do it all over again, I'd get one with the safety cables mounted internally to the bars...

The coiled cables on mine have gotten "argumentative"

If you really are sad and think nobody cares, just try missing a few payments ! '11 Monaco Diplomat 43DFT RR10R pushed by a Demco Excali-Bar II hitch which is pushed by a '14 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport.
