insurance

Hello All, I just received the insurance bill from GMAC for my rig and ooch....I've been looking on line and it seems I can get a better package through Progressive for much less. Has anyone dealt with Progressive insurance company?

I have Progressive Insurance and have not had a claim. But I did add my son onto the insurance and with him under 25 oh what a mistake. Insurance on my 2002 Revolution went from 793.00 per year to OMG 1977.00 . I have 250000 to 500000 with total replacement cost. So now he can not drive it as long as he does not live under my roof. Hint Hint.

We had progressive for our new coach in 2012. No claims, no nothing. Received this years billing it went up over 20% with a degraded replacement cost. We inquired with Progressive, " sure we will revert to your last years policy limits for an additional $ 300.00 on top!! did some research and went with Blue Sky, they specialize in RV insurance. We saved $ 1500.00 yearly with superior coverage! Only clause is, for two years your deductible is high but after two years it goes to zero! Also, your RV must be 1500 ft. From a body of water. No, problem, we live 2500 ft. From the Gulf of Mexico!

Just purchased a new 2014 Tiffin Phaeton and went with Blue Sky Insurance as well with almost a $400 less on a replacement policy

I use progressive here in Florida. 1100 less per year than the other 3 quotes.

We have the RV, car and bike all insured thru Progressive right now. Lowest price so far for us. The only claim we've had is one on the bike when a deer ran a stop sign and ran into Thom. After looking over the bike and all the damage that was done the adjuster said that if it had been any other bike than the Harley than it would have been totaled but they fixed it all with no questions and also paid to replace the leather coat, boots, gloves and helmet. There was no "preferred" shop to take it too so we just ended up having the ones that the Harley shop would have farmed out the work to do the work anyway.

I've had all of my insurance with Progressive for 7 years. I had a $6K claim on the coach... and after some discussion... they honored their policy to charge zero deductible and to not raise my rates because of it.

However, my rates have continued to increase each year. From the reports I read here, this seems to be very common with Progressive... and many other companies.

I had progressive for 5 yrs on 2005 Yamaha road star , I bought a Harley electra glide 2010
Called Geico and they were 200 a month cheaper
They have all my insurance now , mc,TT, truck , car, jeep , house
Does not hurt to shop it around , I was with state farm for 20 plus yrs , nothing but up- up on premiums

We had Progressive, no claims, and about three years of reducing deductibles. Had a rock break the windshield of the Jeep. Found a local outfit that would replace it for $154 in my driveway. Called Progressive to find out how much it would cost going through them. They ABSOLUTELY refused to give me any information till I said (as coached) "that I want to file a claim". The quote was almost $400. I told them to cancel the claim (as they said I could). What they didn't say was that I lost the reducing deductible and my rates went up. When I went shopping for other companies Progressive told other companies that there was a claim on my record of $0 to $1000. They didn't bother to say it was 0. When I found out I contacted the Ins Comm., they said it was legal but certainly not ethical.

We now have GMAC.

Progressive are crooks. Switched bike insurance to them several years back to save a few bucks on premiums. Went into great detail about coverages to make sure I was comparing apples to apples. After about 18 months I wrecked a bike. I filed a claim and they just flat out denied to pay for the damages. I dropped them on the spot. They even tried to strong arm me into keeping them. lol Said I had to provide them with another policy before they could cancel it. I told them if they charged me one more dime in premiums I'd sue them. I guess it's easy to keep premiums low if you don't pay claims.

It would be helpful if you could explain their reasoning to you for the flat denial . I know we have some members here who were claims execs . They do a lot if business for a Co who " don't pay claims. "

I had Progressive insurance on the motorhome only for about 3 years. I had no claims, and like most have reported here, the premium went up each year. About 4 years ago, I received notification by mail for the annual renewal of my policy, and the premium was to be increased by about 60% with no reason given. I went insurance shopping before my policy was to expire, and went with State Farm. A week or so after purchasing the State Farm policy, Progressive sent another renewal notice, and it was only for a few bucks more than the previous year. State Farm was still less expensive, and I am still with them.

Tis is just the nature of the insurance business. Lure you in and increase the rates after the first or second year. They are in most instances not crooks, but ran by MBA's that have a business model that works for them. Let the buyer beware.
