My insurance (farmers) just added to truck when we had a 5r. Cost $45.00 to add with full coverage.

We have Allstate and just added our new 5'er to our car policy. Does your auto insurance company not cover RV's?

The trailer MUST be insured with the same company that insures your tow vehicle. Once connected the trailer and tow vehicle compromise a single unit, and a single legal entity. You cannot get liability insurance on a trailer; it is insured via the tow vehicle.

The vehicles sre by AAA insurance the trailer by GMAC. AAA would not cover the trailer in NY.

Thank you for all the replies
my car policy only covers it if it towed by my car, which is not, and not covered when its not hitched, as in parked in storage or campground.
My Allstate agent said it is a separate policy, so it doesn't matter who I insure it with, I think.

I have Allstate for all my vehicles. I pay a separate amount for the trailer which covers it when stored as well as when towed with my truck which is also covered by Allstate.

I just added mine to the same policies that insure our vehicles and home (progressive). I thought the rates were reasonable.
