Insurance or Extended service

Made a mistake and bent kwikee entrance steps. Steps go in, however, not all the way. Which is best turn into insurance company or use extended service?

A few items to understand... What is the cost to repair? What is insurance deductible? Is it even covered on your extended service plan?

A set of Kwikee steps can be had for roughly $400 from any number of places. I can't imagine an insurance claim not having at least a $500 deductible. If your "extended service contract" reads anything like mine (which excludes repairs due to "collision, physical damage") - you likely won't find any relief there either.

This may well be one of those "you bend 'em, you bought 'em" situations. I think I'd be happy it's $400 bucks and a 4 bolt replacement job - and be more careful in the future.

If you mention - or it is obvious - that the steps were damaged due to an accident, your extended service plan probably will deny coverage.

I would probably just bend it back myself and not worry about it. It's rarely difficult, and yours can't be bent badly or it wouldn't go in/out at all.
