After having Allstate for over 35 years, when the renewal time came up for our homeowners insurance a few years ago, the premium went up over 75%. - Up until that time, I never bothered comparing insurance costs for anything but I thought the increase was excessive and we never filed a claim for anything !

Did some shopping and ended up switching to State Farm....Now we have State Farm for our vehicles ( my Infiniti G coupe, my wifes Subaru Outback, my home and condo and of course, my Holiday Rambler motorhome ).

Amazingly enough, we made the switch over 5 years ago, and even after 5 years, the premiums don't even approach what Allstate was going to charge me back then and the vehicles are new compared to what they were back then.

What I'm getting at, is does pay to shop.
