There are a lot of good advices given here by many knowledgeable and experienced fellow Rvers. You, obviously, are doing the right thing – asking people who have gone through this. IMHO, I would not purchase a motorhome, either from a dealer or a private party without having it inspected by a third party RV professional. This is because, as you know, a motorhome is a very complex system whose inspection simply cannot be done without getting under the hood – by a professional. This inspection will cost you several hundred dollars, but well worth your investment. While there are some good RV dealerships out there and some have been identified here such as PPL, I certainly would not discount purchasing from a private party.
Wishing you all the best with your search!

You might want to try Alliance Coach in Wildwood FL. They were very fair with us.

Just an FYI: I live and work in Houston. A friend and manager of a local RV park told me that a few of his residents have purchased MH's or Trailers from PPL. He said they were lied to about the condition of the product.

I also would recommend getting the inspection done wherever you go. Most people are just trying to make a buck and don't care about you or I.

I highly suggest you visit dealerships til you are blue in the face. By then you and your wife will have picked a make, model, year, price -- really know what pleases you. Then hit the internet and locate what you're after. If used, you can pretty well do the deal by phone. We had an '02 Pace Arrow, but while going with friends who were looking, we stumbled on an '05 Winnabego Adventurer. Couldn't deal w ith that dealership, so found three like we wanted on the internet. Did a verbal deal after swapping many photos on the internet. I kept asking for more and more pix, but it was worth the time. We went from Florida to Benton, Arkansas, traded and then went home to Indianapolis. They did everything as promised, kept the deal and love the coach we got. It has 9,995 miles, smelled new and looked like new..... We've rolled miles since and are back in Florida for the winter. RV City II is the place. They even booked us for a couple nights at a nearby camp ground so we could put the coaches side by side and move our stuff over. Rarely can I say a deal went so smoothly. Don Holmes even put some fuel in for our trip home. In RV's, unless you buy new, dealers don't fill em up anymore.
