inverter for new frig

I just replaced my frig with a Frigidaire 1864 with a lot of advise from IRV2, thanks all. I am now planning to add a small(1000w) pure sine wave inverter just for the frig. I've been looking a found prices from $50 to$1000. I need one that will switch ac to dc automatically. Has anyone added a dedicated inverter? And where would I go to find someone who has knowledge about inverters?

If you want to use AC power as well as battery, that will be an inverter with internal transfer switch. I recommend the Magnum Energy MMS1012. It also has a charger built in. It's made in the USA.

lvnrdream, if your existing converter already has a good 3-stage charger, there is no need to add an inverter that also has a charger. You can add something like a Xantrex 1000 watt PROwatt inverter. The PROwatt does not have an internal transfer switch to automatically switch from shore power to the inverter in the event of 120V power loss, but an external transfer switch is available for around $60.

Magnum makes a similar setup (1000 watt PSW inverter w/o charger and external transfer switch). We have one in our 5th wheel, but I don't see it listed on their website.
