iRV 33 Audio unit defaults with outside speakers ON. How to turn them off?

This is embarrassing...

By default, our iRV 33 unit has the inside AND outside speakers ON, so when we start up any music or TV shows, it plays inside AND outside.

We USUALLY remember to go outside and verify that he sound is off. Usually it is, because we remember to hit the button to turn that zone off. But periodically, we step out and THE SOUND IS ON!!!

Is there a way to reset the unit so by default only the inside zones are turned on?

Luckily, no embarrassing events have occurred, but if we keep watching TV on this thing, or listening to our music, eventually some inappropriate music lyric or TV audio might emanate from our trailer...

I would hate to have the neighbors knock on our door at 11pm with TV or music blaring from our trailer...

I suspect that you may have a Jensen sound system - and if like us are not overjoyed by it. Regardless of the brand, it should be easily reset.

The Jensen manual is here and page 18 has the trouble shooting guide JENSEN AM/FM/DVD/CD/USB Bluetooth Stereo and with the reset shown on page 8.

You can always pull the stereo and yank the speaker wires if you don't use the system outside. If I were to be your neighbor sometime, that sound system blaring outside wouldn't soothe me a bit if I was in the middle of my 'beauty' sleep

Not sure what brand it is, but I don't think it is Jensen. Attached a picture...just says iRV Technologies on the front.

If I don't find a solution soon, I will be taking the outside speakers' wires off the back of the stereo. Haven't had an embarrassing situation yet, YET! Will with time...

If you can't change the settings, just add a switch to the outside speakers and leave them turned off until needed. It would be as simple as adding a small toggle next to the radio.

Here is a link to the company that is making your radio. If you watch the link, you'll see your radio scroll by. I don't see any manuals, but I would call them and ask your question.

HTIB, Sound Bars, Speakers, RV Wall Radios, Marine Stereos, Marine Speakers, 12V Amplifiers, Subwoofers, Receivers, & Antennas

Hi.. I think those blue buttons ( 1, 2, 3) on the top of ur unit are what u need to push to cancel outside speakers... I have a Jensen radio unit and I have those same type of buttons..... Hope this helps

Thanks Dutch Star Don! I will give them a holler.

Silverado, those buttons ARE to turn the various speaker zones on and off, my problem is that all three default to ON when the stereo is turned on. I seldom (never) listen to my stereo outside, because I don't want to bother other campers. So I want them to be OFF by default, so if I ever forget to turn 2 and 3 OFF while inside watching TV, I won't be blaring out to the outside world without my knowledge.

Lately, we have been watching Orange is the New Black (lots of noisy sexual scenes) and I would HATE for the neighbors to have to hear any of that before I realize that the outside speakers are turned on...

OK, this head unit is a piece of crap. I cut those wires to the outside speakers. So that issue is taken care of.

Then today, I bought a "Smart" TV to replace the "dumb" one that came with the trailer, and the head unit will not accept any sound input except through the front AUX hole.

I think it is time to scrap this piece of junk and slap in something after-market that is more reliable, and has the ability to handle extra hardware...

Any suggestions on a unit that will fit in this huge square hole and handle modern electronics?

If there is room, box out the opening, making it wider and add a small home theater system. It will give you a radio and other electronics.

Absolutely, or at least a very good 12v automotive system as the 'other' usual RV system choice seems to be a Jensen as I noted above, and it, IMHO, 'ain't no bargain'.
