IRV2 to the rescue/rant on service dept.

Took our MH to the largest family owned rv dealership for a couple repairs yesterday. Among other things I wanted the back up monitor system checked and the new led tv sound to go thru the ceiling speakers. A couple hours later I got a call from the service dept. saying my whole back-up monitor system had to be replaced, cost $1000. By the way I told them the problem was intermittent. Service writer also told me the tech said I could only have radio or TV through the speakers, not both. Told them to hold on the back-up system. Picked up the MH and WOW the monitor had a perfect picture after a half mile of driving.
After signing in to IRV2 it took me less then an hour to determine the back-up system connections would need to be cleaned or replaced and that my radio had a aux. function. So with 1 wire between TV and radio in aux. mode sound now runs through all speakers.

I agree, no-one in our huge, extended, camping family knows it all, however, together we do know/or know how to find practically everything we need to know. Glad you got things fixed as you want them.

I think the bigger message here is to "Get more than one opinion"
Ask on IRV2 for help !

Had an issue with the rear monitor also. We have the newer monitor turn signal system and we like it. Went on our first trip and the right monitor stopped working. We just had a blue screen. The WBGO Vista 30 T has a nice rounded instrument panel cover. It is held in place with about 8 screws. I had already taken it off at home and WOW complete access to everything on the dash from on top. It's very nice for mounting stuff etc. So at our next stop (CG) I pulled the cover off and found a plug had simply come off and was not even slightly connected. Plugged it back together and FIXED. It was easy as making a cup of coffee.

The unit is under warranty but they would probably have charged WBGO a decent repair bill for that one. Well it's fixed any how. If you have the Vista series it is very easy to get access to any of the dash stuff.

It is ALWAYS BEST TO CHECK WITH ALL THE TALENT AND KNOWLEDGE ON THESE FORUMS. THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN IS YOU WON'T GET THE CORRECT ANSWER. But you already know that happens and sometime it can be at a high price. At least you were smart enough to walk away from that one and it didn't cost you much.

I've just changed my rear camera and video for less than $60, and I added a right side camera too. I used a $30 7" monitor, a camera that I drilled a mounting hole for in the right side mirror pedestal,($7) and a rear camera that I modified from a rear license plate mount to fit in the old camera's box on the top rear of the RV. I went from a 5" B&W monitor to color. I was able to adapt the original wiring to the back and the new camera came with enough cable to do the new right side camera. The right side camera is very handy for cars that lurk in the blind spot when I want to move to the right lane, especially in rain when the mirrors get hard to see and the car isn't using headlights like our state (and safety sense) requires in rain.

No matter how good the tech there is just so much one person can know and experience. Yes sometimes they are playing you, other times they just don't know. A smart person takes into consideration the wisdom of those who blazed the trails before them. Its a good thing some communities share their wisdom. Pay it forward is not just a movie...
