Is Ford being unfair?

It took a Ford dealer nearly a month to resolve a brake/brake controller issue on our 2016 Bounder 35K. Had to stay in a motel on two separate occasions, first for 6 days and on second instance, for 8 days. Dealer wouldn't allow us to live in the RV so we could use galley, thus forcing us to dine in local restaurants. Submitted claim to Ford Roadside Assistance as all work was under Ford warranty. Roadside Assistance called to say they would pay for motels, but not for eating in restaurants.
We could have saved $$$ by using our galley instead of eating out.
Is Ford being fair by not paying for our food?

I think you are lucky they are paying for the motels. I don't think the published warranty provides for anything like hotels OR meals. Ford is doing you a favor.

unfair? probably not, at least not in the sense of 'insurance'(roadside assistance)...

aggravating? absolutely, because you want to stay in your own home and eat your own food, but, nothing keeps you from buying regular groceries and eating them in your hotel room, especially if you have a fridge and micro... tho, still aggravating - agreed

FYI - I'm an insurance agent, and full time RVr, I feel your pain...

+1. I'm really surprised they paid for the hotels. Getting manufacturers to pay for the repair is often challenge enough.

While its much cheaper to cook your own food while traveling, many people don't and therefore Ford not covering it seems seasonable.

Frustrating for sure but more than I would expect as well.
Was the final fix the bad ground ?

FWIW Why didn't you book into an extended stay motel - price reasonable and you get cooking capability.

If there is a next time I suggest a hotel with kitchen or at least a kitchenette. I travel quite a bit for my work and do so. Much better than eating in restaurants all the time.

+1. You were going to eat whether they had your M.H or not!

I have Vacation loss coverage on my insurance that would have covered this.... Have you checked to see if you may have other coverage that could be used?

Exactly!
We have kind of the same problem with health insurance. Insurance will pay for long term stays while DW is recovering from a liver transplant but not for the food since you have to eat anyway.

Yes, apparently it was the ground problem

Things seem good for now since the ground issue was isolated, no warning lights to date. Now to have the front end damage to the Durashield that occurred while the Bounder was in the dealership's possession...It was gouged pretty deeply.
