Is this a genius or wacky idea?
Attach a long black water hose to my motorhome's outside shower...attach the other end of the hose to my city water connection...lay the hose out on the ground in the sun. Free water heating for my indoor shower.
or ?

Jerry, I see your vision and agree but............use a white hose and lay it on black poly and cover it with clear lexan. Safe to use for everything.

Hook your black hose up to a cooler. Start a very slow drip at the faucet and push the hot water into a cooler*. You'll have warm water by 5 pm.
* Installing a Ball Valve on a Coleman Cooler - All

It worked in Iraq. Elevated water tank, black pipes on the ground to the shower. Showers at noon, full sun, were borderline scalding.

People have been seriously scalded by water left in the hose in Arizona. Be careful.

Just HOW long of a hose do you plan on using?
50'x5/8" is 0.8 gallons
I have taken NAVY showers but I KNOW I have used more then 0.8 gallons just getting all wet

True, summer in AZ the problem is not getting hot water, it's trying to find cool water.
To op, it's wacky but I like it.

Definitely WACKY!
Just pony up for the propane and use your water heater. Save money by only showering once a week.: you won't have many friends, but your saving money so it is worth it. Right?

Useless, wacky if you prefer, useless sounds better. You might consider laying a water bladder on your roof instead of just using a hose on the ground. This way you are using the sun to heat 40G of water instead of less than 1 gallon. Trouble with that is roof weight capacity.

Seems like a lot of effort to get a few gallons of warm water. They do make solar showers that heat up 6 gal of water. Better idea then a hose lying around on the ground. So I vote wacky
