What I get from all this is, you are not supposed to make over 200,000 per year. And if you do, you gotta give a lot of it to the govt.

All it takes to find out if it is true is to look at the website address..GOP.gov. I received the same thing in a forwarded email last week. I am amazed by my friends, people who I thought were intelligent, passing on this garbage simply because it reinforces their political views.

Long story short, most of us will never have to pay a penny. If you bought a house for 400,000 and sold it for 950,000 you will pay tax on 50,000. This applies to a married couple making under 250,000 a year. If this affects you, well congratulations on your good fortune!

help less fortunate folks with their Medicare issues
That's good to know. I guess this means that lifestyle choices like smoking, overweight, AIDs, ETC will not be included as "fortune" had nothing to do with it. These are self inflicted wounds and we should not be forced to pay for their medical problems. Thanks for clearing this up.

Maybe a little off topic, but I'm old enough to remember when our elected representatives READ the bill prior to voting on it. Smell anything? NUFF SAID!

Sarcasm? Well, okay. That was just my opinion. So, I guess you're saying that an entire nation of elderly folks getting benefits from any Medicaide source must be guilty of poor lifestyle choices like smoking and eating too many donuts? Really?? Did I hear you right? And because they are getting exactly what they deserve, since they all brought on their own health problems, we shouldn't levy taxes to help them out? Have I got it right, from your perspective? Whew....

The elderly do not get Medicaid. The elderly get Medicare which is an insurance program that is paid into for around 40 years or so. It pays for 80% of hospitalizations, Dr. visits, tests, ETC. Drugs are also purchased at a reduced rate. The cost per "elderly" person is about $106/ month. Supplemental policies to augment the 20%, co-pay and such can be bought also. Medicaid is for the people you called less "fortunate". It is welfare. Some of these folks are actually less "fortunate", but many are not. They are the victims of self inflicted wounds. When a lady who has been on welfare for several generations has that 7th child, the bill for it goes to the achievers in life. Some would say they are the "fortunate", but I am in the camp that thinks we work very hard, very smart, and sacrifice, to make our own fortune.

Threads like this are good for pointing out the haters and particularly good at pointing out how uninformed the haters really are. Of course, that fake news station that the haters love has lots to do with how uninformed they are.

You might have a little credibility if you listed the misinformation. What exactly are you talking about?

Thanks for your concern about my credibility but I don't need anyone to accredit me. (moderator edit)

You must provide your own creditability and you are unable to do so. You can start with why is it the responsibility of the workers to pay for the healthcare of able bodies folks who chose not to work and accept the welfare. Not talking about the really needy, but the folks living off of us. Calling people who are against generational theft are not haters. People calling them haters just don't get it.

It's certainly easy to separate the socialists from the free market folks from the tone of the post. If you want less government intrusion you are a hater. If you hate the job creators you are a progressive.
