I guess I am a hater

I hate the government taking my money and giving it to freeloaders.
I hate the fact that I may lose my doctor of 10 years because he is worried about the new health care law.

Wealthy Americans earn about 50 percent of all income but pay nearly 70 percent of the federal tax burden, according to the latest analysis Tuesday by the Congressional Budget Office ó though the agency said the very richest have seen their share of taxes fall the last few years.
CBO looked at 2007 through 2009 and found the bottom 20 percent of American earners paid just three-tenths of a percent of the total tax burden, while the richest 20 percent paid 67.9 percent of taxes.

Here we go again. Another irv2 political thread. It's no wonder I'm spending less and less time on this site.

Caution folks.

I've edited out some name calling already so let's keep the personal attacks out of the discussion.

Thanks for your help

Rick

Of course, all government money is not the same. If for example, had I invested 15.3 % of my income (paid into Social Security) all my working life and invested it, the money generated now would be over triple Social Security. The same is true for Medicare. If I had been hit by a bus at age 64, I would get nothing. The freeloader that goes to the emergency room for a spousal abuse gets the treatment for "free". Since there is no thing as free. The Doctors and nurses do get paid. They are paid by the people who have worked hard and smart (called the haters by some because we want to spend our money on our families instead of on the freeloaders.) I have no problem with helping the needy and have do so much of my life. My problem is the freeloaders. I have hired these folks for decades and know them well. The stories I could tell. We now have more people riding in the wagon than pulling the wagon. The bad news is the folks riding the wagon are complaining that we are not pulling hard enough and now the economy is bad, they are not getting enough free stuff and are mad at the wagon pullers and call them haters.

Well said Lindsay Richards, you are my new best friend. I don't think any of us who have worked all our lives have any issue with helping those who can't help themselves. We resent "our" government taking it and then wasting it. First on themselves and then with whatever is left, on who ever they decide it will benefit them the most to waste it on.

All I wanted to know if it was true. Read thru this and still don't have a clue.

This wasn't meant to get political.
Sorry I asked.

Oh,also, Thank God DirecTV lost MTV HURRAY

And I didn't think you had to be ashamed of yourself if you made over $250,000. What's with that thinking?

Just wait until 2015 when you are waiting for a kidney transplant at age 65 or older and a little over weight and don't eat what the government thinks you ought to eat, you will be at the end of the line waiting for a life saving kidney, while someone 25 to 40 years old and there ideal weight and eats healthy according to government Standards they will be in the front of the line ahead of you, so ask your self do you really want the government take over on healthcare ?

If you go back over this thread you will find many posts from people who are saying "It applies to any sale of a house" (no, it does not and for several reasons) and "IT applies to RV's as well" (I won't say it can't but I would be very surprised, very very very surprised, if it ever applied to the sale of an RV).

These are the "Uninformed Haters" the person was speaking of, and others like them, who jump on a "Put down the president" (Or someone else) bandwagon without ever doing the needed homework.

I read the article.. I do admit I did not go back and read the law itself in it's entirety (I mean I've read enough Stephen King novels).

The article clearly said that the percentage is a tax on unerned income. and it only applies to folks who make HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS a year, (If you only make 1,999,999 a year you are exempt)

The odds of making unerned income (profit) selling an RV, near zero if not zero And when it comes to selling a house in today's market, Less you bought it since the realestate crash, again you are going to loose.

So the vast majority of sales won't be affected.

So even the article itself, is basic fear mongering, even if it did state the basic fatcs needed to ally those fears.

But you only need read the thread to find the evidence you seek.

I believe the tax is on when you buy the residence. Am I mistaken? I thought it was a sales tax on real estate.

And what does subsidized healthcare mean. I always had to pay my own. Can I get somebody else to pay for it?

Before calling others uninformed, you might want to go back and count the "9's" you posted. Hint, the commas are also a dead giveaway. Kinda destroyed your whole credibility deal didn't it?

I just did some reading and if you rent your property over 14 days in a year and you sell it you don't have to pay the 3.8% Medicaid tax they call it now.

1st, don't trust Snopes totally. Check other sites like Truth or Fiction. They don't always agree. 2nd, I like to choose my own charities, not dictated by the government. 3rd, look at all those plaques in hospitals, museums and at the library. They are there because people of wealth generally put back into society, not take away. 3rd A famous man once said that a government big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take it away.
