Items stolen while RV was in shop for service

I dropped my RV off at Cummins of OKC for genny failure. I had said genny installed there for a hefty price earlier this year and had used it less than 7 hours.
Anywho.... Despite an appointment set for this past Wednesday September 26th around noon, it ended up being there until Monday September 30th at which time I arrived to pay for the service and question some concerns I had with why their expensive work failed. I got mostly blank stares, paid my bill and proceeded to leave.
When it was in the shop earlier this year, I left some personal effects inside and was assured that their lot was safe and secure and that it would be in the bay unless they had to make room for another unit so I assumed the same situation this time or locked if parked on the lot.
Sometime later Friday or Saturday, I drove by and saw it sitting out in their lot and even later in that evening/night I had this strong feeling that it was probably not locked but I knew that I could not prove it without trespassing onto their property by climbing over there "secure" barbed wire fence. Not going to happen.
Back to today, before I even climbed in to the driver's seat to start it, I saw that this large animal print makeup type box that I had velcroed to the dashboard and had been throwing nickels dimes and quarters into for about a year was not sitting there. I looked around and behind me to see if maybe it had been pulled off and set in the floor. Nope. So I walked to the bedroom and as I approached the entryway of the door which I am positively one hundred percent sure I had closed when I went by there to get a few items from, I could tell that someone had been in there.
I walked straight to my little side table drawer (I don't recall if it was open or not)and I saw that a small bucket which was over half full of rings was not there.
I walked straight back to their office where were three guys who all looked up when I walked in. I don't recall exactly what I said but it was along the lines of "Great! My RV was robbed!"
I got more blank stares and one of them said there was another unit that was stolen from this weekend so I asked if it was okay if I called and filed a police report myself.
Then I walked back to the RV, threw my keys toward the front grill and shouted an expletive that I cannot repeat here.
NO ONE from inside came out during my wait for the investigator, one guy was sent out to check on whether a couple of vehicles near mine were locked and a few employees sat out near one of the Machinery Bays for lack of a better word and had their smoke breaks.
Despite the fact that I was stupid for leaving the items here and trusting anyone, I still say this was not my fault. I strongly think that it was one of the employees / workers and if anyone cares to suggest my next steps on how to rectify the situation, I'm all ears.

I take it there were no security cameras anywhere?

That sucks!

I hate it but I remove all my stuff from the coach when I leave it at a repair place overnight. It takes a long time to empty it out but I don't trust that they will lock it up, regardless of what they say they will do.
Also, I hate that they give you an appointment day/time and then don't honor it. I just recently had a service writer tell me that my appointment was with the service writer, not a tech, even though they checked that the tech was free to work on my rig the day I was scheduled.
As for your missing possessions, I'm sure they have some small clause in their contract that says they are not responsible for items left in the vehicle. So I guess you're screwed. Sorry to hear this.

Thanks for the wakeup call. Unfortunately it's to late for you, but other people (me) need that reminder. So many sticky fingers today, that you have to go to extremes to cover yourself. I would still be shouting expletives yet today.

We always remove the expensive things from the MH on the rare times it goes in for service.

File a claim with your insurance company, then try to put the whole incident behind you. If it will make you feel better write a letter to Cummins corporate ombudsman and see if they will do anything, but don't get your hopes up. They will probably point to a sign or a clause in the work order indicating they are not responsible for ....... you know how it goes.

Tell your story on their web-site, in the reviews. That's about all I can suggest. Your review may draw enough attention that something will change at that shop.

This opens up a topic which you never see discussed, at least I havent. If you full time, or even if you are many miles from home traveling, where do you put your valuables if you need service. I suppose a safe will work for the small stuff. I guess you could put everything in one bay and lock it. What does everyone else do?

All standard service contracts state "Repair facility is not responsible for lost or stolen items. "
It has been that way for 30+ years that I have been in the business.

I am sorry this happened to you.

You should have known. You should have takes steps. Now you know.

It's very possibly (and has happened many times) that if your doors were locked now the stuff would be missing and you would need to have the doors repaired. Still a major bummer.

I would never leave valuables in an RV while being serviced! Sure sorry that you had to be reminded the hard way!

It's true the OP should have known. But on the other hand, when I take any vehicle to a reputable Repair facility I would expect that the owner of the facility has reputable people working for them, Not thieves!

I'm sorry it happened.

I dread taking our coach in for any type of repairs. DW goes through entire coach and empties out silverware, dishes, towels, pillows. Everything!! You'd think we just sold the coach.

I guess its a way for us to 'clean out' the unused stuff and not put it back in.
