Jack's Truck&Equipment in Rock Springs, WY :)
I really wanted to make a positive comment about the service we received from Jack's Truck & Equipment in Rock Springs, WY, this past week.
We were driving from California to Cheyenne, and in Winnemucca, NV, my Silverleaf flashed an alarm for just having ~12 volts (in other words, no charging happening, just battery discharge). Being that there aren't many options in Winnemucca, I fired up the generator to see if it would work as one big honkin' alternator... which it did. So we continued down the road while my wife started making phone calls to cities ahead of us.
The short version of the story was that:
Cummins Rocky Mountain in Elko couldn't get us in for three days, so we decided to push on. A Kenworth dealer in Elko that said he could handle it on the phone turned out to say "no, we don't work on RVs" when we showed up (fortunately, all that cost us was a couple of hours we could have been calling ahead). Cummins Rocky Mountain in Salt Lake City told us that alternators are OEM parts, they don't even carry alternators nor replace them (keep in mind, their website says SLC is one of their "RV service centers" for Cummins Rocky Mountain). Cummins Rocky Mountain in Rock Springs, WY, said they were also three days backed up, but recommended Jack's.
Jack's told us to show up at 8:00am the next morning, which we did, and by 9:30am we were on the road with a new alternator. Awesome service, no yanking around or anything. A great experience especially after everything else we'd gone through over 36 hours...
Steve
