Jury Duty Notice Right In The Middle of Trip!

The Original Poster here. I went in person and spoke with the Deputy Clerk of the Court. I explained my problem and she asked me to hand-write a letter to the Judge explaining the issue. I had also mail a letter but due to the holiday, it is still setting in the mail box.

I asked her if I would hear back and she said I would not but that a trip to Canada trumps jury duty.

I will deal with any consequence, should there be any after I return.

BTW, my summons clearly states that I must appear unless written excuse is issued by the judge.
