Just left PPL RV's in Houston

The staff were quite friendly and there was no pressure from a sales person since we gave the unit a quick look and left. In there appearance rating they gave the MH an "Excellent" rating. It was far from excellent. Probably closer to fair or even poor. The leatherette seats were peeling and the carpeting was stained. We were expecting so much more. Rant over, we will keep looking.

Sorry to here about your experience with PPL. I have had very good experience dealing with them. They sold my TT for almost what I paid for it and we got a great deal on our Bounder. Things may have changed in the 5 years since I was there. Did you ask them why it was rated so high? Keep looking there are a lot of bargains out there. Good luck.

Appearance ratings can be somewhat objective. I wonder if their rating is also based on age?

I've noticed that many of their coaches are 8 yrs and older, but not all.

Yes, as I understand the condition rating is aligned to other similar age RV.

adjective 1. possessing outstanding quality or superior merit; remarkably good.

2. Archaic. extraordinary; superior

It was 6 years old and none of the above!

I have been dealing with PPL for more than 15 years with nothing but positive experiences, having both bought and sold with them.

Yes appearance ratings can be variable. They have several appraisers who do the ratings. I am sure each has a slightly different eye. As mentioned, ratings are typically based on similar vehicles of the same age. If you felt that a unit's rating was way off-base, a question or two would have been merited. Perhaps you could have caused them to re-evaluate the unit.

If you are traveling to PPL from a distance, I suggest you zoom in on the photos and look closely at the details that concern you before you travel. PPL tends to take the same general photo views and angles for every RV, so they are not using the photos to emphasize or de-emphasize selective areas.

The inventory usually turns over rather quickly with new stuff coming in often, and every unit is open for inspection. If you go in and look at one "target" unit and left, then you waste your time and opportunity. Since there is no one following you around like a puppy dog, you are free to look at your own pace and comfort level. In fact, when looking for my most recent purchase, I was typically up at the lot twice a week (I live less than 1/2 hour away) to catch a look at new units as soon as they came in. Good ones go very quickly.

Keep looking Neal & Deb! There's one out there just waiting for you! I would look for individual sales. I think they would be far more honest than a dealer, at least most of the time!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
