Odd. I have an Elite 10 with a 2014 date but it is not on Kidde's or the government's lists.

Mine wasn't on the list either but when I told the customer service rep about it and gave her the numbers she said it was on the recall list.

Read back in thread...E10 info is there.
They are on the Canadian list but you need to call a different # for customer service. That took care of mine

Geez, you would think that Kidde would combine the two lists. While they are doing great replacing these, they should acknowledge the fact that RVers are sometimes cross-border travelers and may indeed have units from the country they are not currently in.

I submitted 3 ea on the web. Yesterday I got an email saying the curved handle units were not on the recall, even though the model # were on the list.

This is the web based email I received.

Like rgvtexan, I also found that my six had the curved handle and horizontal lockout pin. Why didn't they include that information in the recall?? My serial #'s were included in the list.

Have a nice day - Darrel

Four days ago got my first of three and then today the second one showed up. My guess is the third one will show by Wednesday. Free shipping for return also makes sense.

I also have a Winnebago, with a Canadian labeled Elite 10, Elite 10 Home. When you read the recall notice, it states the recall is in conjunction with the Canadian recall. Kidde is negligent when the US states that your extinguisher is not effected, when it is recalled in Canada. All the effected products were manufactured in Mexico and USA, as stated by Kidde. The only difference is what label was slapped onto the canister. When you call US, they don’t have it on list, Canada has on list, but can’t ship to US address. I called the customer service number, about a dozen times got message from phone company saying there was a problem with the line? I finally got through, waited an hour hearing them tell me how important I was, then line went dead.
Finally I went online to Kidde support and sent this issue to the International Sales and Marketing department. No response yet, but it was only on Friday. I also stated in my message that this recall should also be reported to the NTSB as it’s a Accessory in a motor vehicle. Kidde does a a very similar recall that was posted about 10 years ago on the NTSB. WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

Received 2 of 4 today. The replacements are larger than the old ones. I plan to keep the old units as back ups for the new ones.

Wow! What a strange way to run a recall.
I just called the customer service number 800-848-2292 I selected #2 from the menu for customer service. After about a 2-3 minute wait I explained my problem with the model Elite 10 being on the Canadian list but have an US address. He told me to call the US number (855-271-0773) and tell them I have a model FA10G instead of the Elite 10 and that they should process it.
I did and they did process it I wonder if you used that model number on the web site they would process it.
I guess the secret code for the Elite 10 is FA10G.

has anyone received the new unit yet? i called them on nov 2, the rep told me within about 15 days i should receive the replacement. well, 3 weeks have past still nothing. i am eager to move, but this sticks me here.

i called them again, they asked for my recall record id. but at the first call on nov 2, the rep didn't give me an id so i don't have it. this rep said then she couldn't do anything about it unless we start it over. she said i could call kidde cs they could search by my name and address. well, i called, 30 minutes on the phone waiting, kidde cs no one picks up the phone... what a business.

I thought you had to mail the old ones back?

There were no instructions in the box of either extinguisher. If they want the old ones they will have to send me a prepaid shipping label. My guess it would cost them more in shipping than they are worth.
