KOA fees

We're new. We're just finishing our first year of MH ownership. 6,000 miles, 46 nights. It's not a driveway trophy.

We went back to the KOA where we started our season in April. We didn't have a toad then. But last night they informed us there was a $5.00 per day fee for the "extra car". Why? We had a pull through site. No extra space being occupied that we hadn't already paid for.

KOA PAY ATTENTION--- I'm starting a movement DEMANDING that ALL extra fees be posted IN ADVANCE of making a reservation. I know others will cite "Keep On Adding" - but I like the assurance of a brand. Even sneaky airlines are honest enough to pillage your wallet up front when booking!

Have found KOA rates generally a little higher on average than other local RV Parks. Many KOA's seem older and in poorer condition - not bad...just a little run down. We use Good Sam RV Park Finder, or RV Park Reviews to locate options / assess parks.

Good luck with that.

I have always felt that KOA did not list the extra charges until you were at the desk in order to make it harder for you to back out of the deal. The customer thinks "OK--It is just another $5. I will pay it since I am already here."

I do not stay at KOA's anymore because of the high prices and add-ons.

That was a ripoff. Which one/where is it? Publicity of these policies will possibly get around enough to get their attention.
Friends of ours with MH/toad have never been double-dipped like that a a KOA.

I've always found KOA to be higher priced than other comparable campgrounds, and most are sub-par. Lots more of them in the NE, than other parts of the country. We really like the All Stays app, use it first when looking for campgrounds

KOA is like CW, and I stay away from them, there are so many other RV campgrounds and RV maintenance places to spend my money at.

KOA is the stay of almost last resort for us. Packed in like sardines - and expensive as hell.

We love KOA, but we always shop carefully. Some folks just show up at campgrounds and expect it to be nifty.
We KOA a lot between destination points.
We have the KOA card. It saves 10% up front and the points make for even bigger discounts. Our average nightly fee is about $33 with FHU.
I have not had KOA add on any fees since the late 80s. But we dont have pets; dont know if they charge for that.
If a KOA is too expensive or has poor reviews, we go elsewhere. Those that paint KOA the same way they paint with a broadbrush on CW services are simply not being fair!
Read reviews.
Check online prices.
We are in a great KOA tonight for $22 with points plus 10% off.
It is grand to tickle a keyboard and end up at a good CG!

Use KOA's on a regular basis. Some I won't go to because of better options. Have never been charged extra for either my tow or my pets. Like all campgrounds. There are good ones and there are bad ones.

I also have a KOA card but will stay at the best that we can find. KOA has many older locations but that is because the independent (mom and pop) owners signed on out of necessity. It gives them access to a greater customer base. I don't know if they are all corporate locations now or not. Some of them are really nice like the one at the Grand Canyon or Grand Junction Colorado.

"KOA" and "resort" should never be in the same sentence.
