KOA Membership
Can one purchase a KOA membership at a KOA campground during your first stay?

My plan is to go down the list when looking for a spot.
1) Passport America
2) Good Sam
3) KOA
No point in starting the clock on KOA if it takes me a few months before I need it.

Yes, you can purchase your membership at time of reservation or when you check in.

Two years ago, we spent a couple months at a KOA. Just before leaving, I bought a card and got the rewards points for the time we had already been there.

Yes, we did. It's an online process the KOA will do for you. Very simple.

I would think the KOA card isn't much use unless you plan to stay at one for enough $$ to offset the card cost? Used to be $30, don't know if it has gone up? But, yes, you can get one at any KOA CG anytime.
What do you do with the points--haven't looked at KOA in long time as they are mostly too costly vs other nearby CGs, but seems lots of people use KOA exclusively.

I try not to stay at KOA campground now. Even with the membership "discount" they are some of the more expensive campgrounds. If you don't mind this they usually have good sites.

We have joined the KOA system. They do tend to be a bit more pricey but have all the bells and whistles. We will use them to do laundry, have a nice clean shower facility, and have found that when other campgrounds close for the season they are usually open. They are good to have when on a long trip to do a reset. Dump tanks and flush, do laundry, shower, etc. Then we are good to boondock or travel again. They are reliable, clean, and the KOA system keeps a close eye on them so they are consistent.

I have been at some disappointing RV parks over the years. KOA's have never let me down. While they may be a bit higher I know what to expect from them. I will keep my membership active.

No amount of money can buy you an extra second of time.
