I am going through the same issue as you with a failed motor. kwikee recommended I install a conversion kit as there apparently is no replacement motor for my steps. The conversion kit includes basically everything except the steps (motor, gear box, control board, wiring). I have ordered a kit but have not received it as yet.

I was told the same thing .... Just not true.
What they REALLY mean is THEY do not carry the replacement parts after a certain time period.

Mine is a 1995 Rexhall Aerbus. I was quoted over $600 for replacement kit.
My steps are now working for $45.

My replacement kit was around $240 from Amazon. I haven't received it yet but the feedback indicates that it is fairly straightforward replacement.
