Thumbs down Kwikee Level Best Question

Hi Folks,

I have a 2005 Winnie Sightseer 33L. I just had the jacks rebuilt and asked the hydraulic shop to add a few washers or a spacer to the middle and bottom bolts so that the jacks would be straight up and down and not angled in toward each other like they are or as they came when new.

We got the call it is ready and when I picked it up they were still kicked in slightly. When I asked why they were not straight he replied that he had checked with the manufacturer and this is how they are supposed to be.

I have seen other Sighteers (Workhorse chassis Fords are straight) that are just like mine slightly in toward each other. When I bought the coach I was assured and reassured that is how they are. An explanation from a repair tech was that when he frame was made at workhorse they probably had cross members that were not quite to specs.

If someone were to tell me that jacks that are kicked out away from each other are that way because it is more stable I would understand like a broader stance but not the opposite. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

If the manufacturer says it's O.K., and you don't have any stability issues with the way they are, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

In addition, if you think a trapezoid shape (wide at the bottom, narrow at the top) adds stability or strength to the jacks, why wouldn't you get the same strength from the trapezoid being upside down? The RV is still fully supported and stable, isn't it?

Hi,

You might be right just looks very akward and like it is putting excess pressure on the jack.
