Whoa, that's weird. I start by checking battery voltage.

What do you mean when you say "shorting out entire rig"? I believe there is a fuseable link between the battery and the pump motor solenoid,,, is it frying? Or is one of the big circuit breakers tripping?

Is the hydraulic pump trying to run when you plug the panel in?

I guess "short" is not the proper term. When plugged in the rig will run (drive) for about 1/4 mi. then everything shuts down. No fuses tripped, and hyd motor not running. Thanhks

Hi. "shorting out" is not the proper term. When plugged in, the rig will run (drive) about 1/4 mi., then it slowly dies, and no battery power (rig or engine) is present. Unplugging keypad, and jump starting puts all back in order.
Pump is not running.
No fuses tripped.

Thanks

Pump is not running.
No fuses tripped.

As stated above, that is weird! I can't imagine the Kwikee panel being able to do that to the chassis electrical system. Maybe it's messing with the ECM somehow,, I just don't know.

Are you sure the Kwikee panel is causing this? It kinda sounds like the alternator might not be charging, and when you jump start the battery, it puts just enough juice into the battery to get you down the street a quarter mile.

Panel unplugged, can you drive the motorhome for many miles? If you run it, say 30 minutes, can you shut down the engine then crank it back up?
