kwikee step light fixture

While lubricating the kwikee steps today I notice a round light fixture that was not lit under the frame. I tried to remove the lense cover to change a possibly burned out bulb but could not get it to come off. Is there a trick to removing the lense or is there a switch somewhere that controls the light? Thanks!

If you turn off the step switch to out it will turn off the light. Put the switch to in and light will come on anytime step is out. Hope this helps.

Thanks Johndale, but already tried that. Nothing! I did find that you have to pry off the lense. So that's my next step (pun not intended) and check for power then continuity of the bulb.

My under-stair light only comes on when the step switch is in the position that lets the step come out when the door opens and in when the door is closed. My bulb was burnt out and I pried the lens off with a flat blade screwdriver. You have to give it a pretty good pop to get it back on.

The lens is rather hard to get off, but it does pry off. Bulb replacement is easy after that. Remember to get the lens to snap in place when your through. Don't need it falling off.
