Kwikee Step Problems

I replaced my motor, gear, and linkage assembly June 2012. Steps have been working fine.

Steps started moving inward after they were extended. I adjusted the cams closer to the step arms. Now the steps are firmer when extended, but they only retracted half way in. With the steps extended, I loosen the cams and turn them, but they never get close to the step arms. I never see the linkage lock in the out position.

Do I keep adjusting the cams, or is there something else I should check?

Thanks in advance!

The only help I can offer is this link to the Kwikee step manual.

Kwikee Step Problems

I read the instructions for adjusting the steps for the third time, after you suggested the reading the manual again, and I think I finally understand I'm not doing right when adjusting the steps.

I haven't loosen the stops until they move freely, extend and retract the steps until the linkage is locked in the out position.

Thanks Ray!

That's key. I don't know why, but if you follow the steps in the manual EXACTLY, it works. Be sure they're well lubricated and not bent in any way too.
