Hello everyone. We were wondering if anyone knows what the average weight restriction is to climb the ladder attached to the units to get to the roof?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Most of the ones I have seen with weight limit labels have been 225lbs. Make sure yours screws that hld ladder to motor home are tight. Might also check screws on the steps of the ladder too

Mine has a 235lb sticker next to it. I hope that is a conservative number, Just saying!

I'm crossing my fingers for that *conservative* word as well... I've seen 2 techs on roofs, so I am sure the roof can hold 300+, but the two techs haven't gone up the ladder at the same time. :/

I just know that in the ten years we have had our MH the ladder has handled progressively more weight each year---iffin ya know whaddah mean, pilgrim.

Actually we had ours replaced once the guy that did it was huge, two eighty. He hung on the ladder and bounced a bit to demonstrate it was on there to stay. I thought that was a little silly but the ladder did not wince at least visably.

However there are ladders and there are ladders, so checking with the manufacturer is a great idea.

Mine, an Open Range, has a label on it that says - limit 300 #.

As I've gotten older I've trusted those ladders less and less, because falling hurts more and more. Looking at the small screws holding them to your coach brings even more doubt. I carry a tubular retractable type but still use great caution when I go up and that is pretty rare. My MH stays inside a Garage when not in use so it stays much cleaner on the roof and needs much less care.

Since I see different weight limits, maybe it is the weight limit that they want on the roof.

Our Monaco product has a sticker at the top saying "300 lb. limit in motion" So with the bouncing etc I would take it to mean "something" over 300 lbs. Of course i'll never know cause you wont find me on the ladder while in motion

Tiffin rates their ladders at 200 pounds, according to their owner's manual. I weigh 220, so I guess I won't be maintaining my own roof. One could always carry their own ladder, stored in the basement, but that would be a hassle.
