We are at Lazy Days right now, in the Crown Club service area for a repair to an ailing transfer switch. The service bays are full of luxury coaches in for repair but there is an eerie lack of activity around here, compared to 8 months ago when we last were here. Activity in the Crown Club is noticeably less as well. There are signs every where that they are making do with less, fewer employees and less services to customers. Nothing I would call a fundamental change, but noticeably different all the same. It's kind of sad - this used to be such a vibrant place!

I know that there are some strong feelings regarding Lazy Days. You either love the place or not; its hard to be neutral. We bought our current rig there and probably could have done a little better somewhere else. The sheer magnitude of the place gets to you. That being said, it would not be good for the RV community for a company like Lazy Days to fail. I hope they get their finances fixed to the satisfaction of all parties.

That is bad news.

I hope they do a good job telling which ones are the keepers during the layoffs.

They have some really good knowledgable people there that are really into RVing and then some that you can tell are not, never will be and don't care or bother to learn anything about them. Two out of the three service advisors I have dealt with there were the latter and did not have a clue about the systems or maintenance of a Motorhome.

Don Wallace must be pained to see what is happening to his people even though he is no longer there anymore.

It would be an earth shaking event if a company of their size went down. The affect would be felt throughout an already shaky industry.

I am not a big fan of Lazy Days but hope they make it.
If they really want to make it they have to change the way they look at the buying public and treat them as if they are gold.
Been there 2 times about parts and work and as soon as I told them I had a Newmar they didn't want to know me.
First time needed electricial connection. Parts asked what type of MH and when I said Newmar closed the parts book and said "can't help you". Last time to restring day/night shades and when I said Newmar he told me I had to leave the MH for 3/4 days as they would get to in between jobs. When I question what did he mean by between jobs the answer was they have scheduled jobs and if and when they had 15-30 minutes between jobs they would do what they could in that time frame and that's why it would take 3/4 days.

Therein lies a big part of their problem regarding customer service. They don't sell Newmar RV's new, so they do not want to service them unless it's a warranted part or say, a Workhorse or Ford problem. But they are not the only dealers like that. There is one in Knoxville who sells all kinds of RV's on several different chassis. It's a Workhorse authorized shop, but does not want to work on my rig, because I did not buy it there. Maybe these difficult times will change their way of doing business.

This will be a big blow to the Camping World next door. It also rents 10 bays from Lazy Days for it’s repair and installation services. Once they get behind, it is very hard to get caught up, especially in a declining market. I would also think many customers would be thinking twice about buying from them for warranty reasons also. We were buy there (Camping World) several months ago ad went in to get their free lunch for previous customers and I saw a lot of empty cubicles for the salesmen which are usually the first to go.
