Leaking freshwater inlet valve

Ever since we bought the MH in 2012 the freshwater inlet valve has been leaking around the valve lever. On a recent trip I finally got aggravated enough to do something about it!

I went to a local hardware and found the fitting above, which was less than $3, and it works perfectly! I wish I had saved the package to give you a part number but didn't. I hope this may be useful to some of you who have the same problem!

As long as it's not subject to freezing, I say go for it! I actually used the same type valve on the S&B water heater drain valve a few years ago. Still working too!

I had a similar problem. While camped and hooked to city water the tank would slowly fill until it overflowed. After replacing the valve (devilishly difficult) I inspected the original valve. Turned out the valve was fine but the stop for city water allowed the valve to rotate too far and allowed the leakage into the tank. If I had only backed off on the rotation it would have been fine. You might check and see if your valve might have a similar condition.

Have a nice day - Darrel

I believe you're looking at the changeover valve above that switches from city water to the freshwater tank. That was not what I changed, it was the one on the bottom.

Joe, now add a brass quick connect to the end and you won't wear anything out taking the hose on and off. It also makes it quick to connect the hose.
