Leaking Pressure Regulator

The "premium" pressure regulator I purchased from Camping World less than six months ago has sprung a leak, actually several. This is used for potable water so I am hesitate to apply any sort of sealant. Is there a safe way to stop these leaks?

I'm sure smarter people than me will come along here, but for me teflon tape would do if those leaks are coming from threaded joints....If you have a problem with that tape, it would not come in contact with your water if used correctly. Monkey

That's BROKE! I don't think your fixing that one. Looks like maybe it was over tightened, Brass is soft.

Hmmm...something I had never thought of is overtightening. We do not use a wrench to tighten the hose on the regulator. Can you over tighten by hand? Maybe....
I have sent the picture to the manufacturer to get their take on this.

Hand tighten, I doubt it's over tight if you did it by hand. Any chance it's freeze damage?

Smile Valterra Customer Service

The manufacturer, Valterra, has graciously offered me a replacement. Very fast response to my email, within a day, and a very quick decision 'no question' replacement with an hour or so.

Very impressive Customer Service.

Good news. But I would be interested in what caused it? Did they offer a reason?

Valterra did not ask for the part to be returned. Upon very close inspection there appears to be a slight deformation of the nut just below the leak and a crack in the housing. Impact damage? Do not remember ever dropping this unit but the casting clearly looks cracked.

Received the new one yesterday from Valterra, UPS.

Now I have a spare:-)
