Led strip lights ok to use outside door light as power source?
Not sure if this is the right place to discuss lighting but here we go. I was wondering if ....
1st- can you conect several led strips together and
2nd- can I conect those strips to the wiring for the outside light above the side door?
I don't need the fancy remote or fancy color changing lights. Just plain white is fine with me.
Thanks

1 - some do allow that.
2 - should be OK if you get 12V LED strips.

Yes, you can connect them together, but as Buzz said, there is a limit to the total footage. Some companies provide special connectors to join the strips.
No problem in connecting them to the porch light source. Just keep in mind that they are polarity sensitive!
Be sure to buy weatherproof strips!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Google LED strip lighting , there are as many options as you can imagine , I got three rolls of 5m long and converted all my florescent fixtures (12) for under $55. Free delivery with Amazon Prime.
Depending on the amount of light you want , you can get 300 or 600 leds per roll , trim to length, and waterproof is available .
Here is one of many sites.
Strips of LED Lights White and Color Changing Awning Lights

If you want the ability to control the strips, (change colors, brightness, etc) then you need a remote control.
There are two types of remote controls. Most of the kits come with the IR (infrared) remote which requires you have line-of-sight with the receiver sensor. For example, you will be trying to control an outside strip from inside the RV! Not good!
The other type is the RF (radio frequency) remote, which transmits a radio signal to the controller and will work through walls, etc., usually up to about 50'.

If you use these type make sure you use 3 m double sided tape because the stuff on it will come off in the heat.
