Let the Memorial Day weekend gas gouging begin...

About 2-3 weeks ago gas went up 8 cents per gallon of regular followed by another 2 cents the following day putting us here at $3.65/gal. (Our regular is 85 octane, our midgrade is 87.) Over the the last week and a half it actually came down a whopping 2 cents.

Sure enough, today, with the holiday weekend looming our local Maverick jumped it 10 cents to $3.73 and premium at $3.97. (And yes, I know we're low compared to a fair portion of the country).

Sure glad I filled up yesterday using my Smith's loyalty card points.

I'm sure this is just the start this week as well.

This should be NO big surprise. In our area a week and a half ago I filled up for $3.539 on a Friday. The following Tuesday gas went to $3.799 and by Friday dropped back to $3.699. I guess maybe they just jumped the gun on their first increase. It's amazing what their doing but they have us just where they want us. We are staying home for the Holiday but anyone that is traveling I hope you have a great time. As a matter of fact we're staying home ALL summer this year. Don't really mind it we were gone 9 months total in the last 12 months. Things need to be attended to around the house and since we can't sell it (or give it away I should say) things still need to be tended to. Some day maybe we'll get lucky and be able to unload this place. That will be a day.

Unless something unusual comes up between now and then, I got the price gouging beat. Going to stay home and work on the '65 Mustang . I've been locating and correcting several electrical issues that started on the recent trip to St George, UT. If we do any thing at all, it will be to meet a couple of other RVing Mustangers over the hump in Pahrump.

Lowest price for gas (regular) today in Douglas Georgia, is $3.24 9/10. It has been steadily falling for a couple of weeks as oil prices dropped.

Ummmm....what is? A number of posters have stated and even provided source data that prices are dropping in their locales.

Denver Gas Paices

Prices have dropped here, too. GasBuddy shows $3.66 for Regular (85 Octane) and $3.72 for Diesel.

Here's a post from me dated May 14:

According to gas buddy, Regular Unleaded is $3.72 about a mile from me and Diesel is $3.74 about 2.8 miles from me. I haven't seen prices that close in a long time.
