Don't need insurance to register or renew in Montana. They know how to treat real citizens.

From what I understand. Any vehicle bought out of the state of Texas, When you buy it where ever you pay state sales tax, then you bring it to Texas and you pay sales tax on it again. If your bill of sale does not seem right the will ngo by the Blue Book and tax you accordingly. But they don't have to be rude about it. I know they are because I live in Liberty Tx.

That's not quite accurate. You don't pay the sales tax again, you only pay the difference between what you already paid and what you owe in Texas. You get a credit for whatever you paid the original state.

The people at the Tax office in Livingston where quite nice when we registered our MH there. It was purchased from a dealer in Florida, so we had already paid the FL tax (6%), and only had to pay the difference (0.25%).

Something else to think about

Now that you have given Gov. Perry, his $$'s so that he can move around the country.
You might want to think about a class B drivers Lic.. You will have to take the test in the Unit or something that GVW's +26,000#.
What good is it? probably nothing, unless you get stopped by a local looking to write someone up, or the biggy, a accident.
The system bent me over for our coach at the tax office.

If you bought it in Florida and registered it in Texas, why didn't you just pay sales tax to Texas? Why did you pay Florida's? When I buy out of State I pay the tax to my home state, weather it's higher or not. If you bought it and registered it in Florida and then moved to Texas there shouldn't be any sales tax to Texas because you didn't buy it again, you just re-registered to a different address. I'm confused.

(also RV's move port to port, so do Ships) If a Ship is docked at Miami all the time and it's registered in the Bahama's, do they pay tax to Florida?

The purchase was from a Florida dealer with delivery in Indiana. The dealer did it as a Florida purchase, with Florida temporary plates. Florida's tax is lower than Texas, so it wasn't costing us any money to do it that way. I don't think a Florida dealer could have done a Texas temporary registration, and I think he had to collect the Florida tax to do a Florida temporary.

Are you saying you've purchased in Florida, gotten FL temp tags, and never paid any FL tax?

As it turned out, we got the paperwork in time to stop and get the Texas plates on the way to Indiana to pick up the coach.

You get a set of temps from Texas. Dealer should have used his dealer tags to deliver your coach to Indiana. Sounds like if he would have wrecked it on the way to Indiana, YOU would have been liable. I bought a couch in Texas and got a temp Texas plate from the dealer to drive mine back to my state, but I paid my sales tax when I registered it. I bet they don't sell any coaches to say a customer that lives in a state that hasn't any sales tax, unless there idiots.
