It was a factory pickup. The coach was never in Florida.

What states don't have a sales or equivalent use or excise tax on vehicle registrations?

You're really trying to make something out of nothing. If the registration state tax was less than Florida, I expect we would have done things a little differently. But it wasn't, so this was all a wash.

You should probably make that some states. And even in those states, it appears to only be a problem if you don't follow the correct procedures. All the issues I've heard of are with non-full-timers who actually do live in that state and keep the RV there most of the year. I haven't heard of any state going after a full-timer who's RV is not in the state most of the year. Have you?

Joe is correct. A Montana LLC is only a fraudulent tax evasion tactic if you don't follow the rules of your home state. If you follow the rules of your home state there is no violation of the law. Follow the rules and you're okay, break them and you're not okay. Pretty simple really.
