Living in your RV?

I can understand where they're coming from on this issue! I don't know what the answer is though.

As long as you stay in a recognised RV facility, you won't have a problem. If your RV is a ratty-looking old wreck and you're parked on the street and inside the rig for more than a few hours, you will.

This has nothing to do about the RV lifestyle as such. It has to do with homeless camps on the streets.

In Tucson and I'm sure other cities have the same problem from time to time, there was a real problem with the homeless setting up their tents on the downtown public building lawns, extending on to the sidewalks so people couldn't even walk by, and that created quite a mess as there were no bathroom facilities. The city found a designated place for them to set up their tents at night but they couldn't stay camping. They had to move on during the day.

That's sounds like what Seattle is trying to work out. Seattle is not against typical RVers.

They just are not as sensitive as folks in New York City that are changing their laws so that public urination is no longer illegal. These Seattle folks are just mean spirited. ;>]

That sounds like RV shaming and discrimination to me. And I hate it when at some random hour of the night, a parker magically turns into a camper, the way many people see it.

A little common sense goes a long way, and from what I read most of them are trying to employ theirs. They aren't saying "RVers are homeless criminals" despite the title of this thread. They are saying that there are a lot of people who are living out of clapped out old camper vans and are making a nuisance of themselves. These people aren't living the "RV lifestyle" the way you and I know it. They are living in their cars and RVs because it's all they can afford. It's the only option they have, so to speak. Consider them "involuntary fulltimers". They are causing issues for the residents where they are parking and as such the residents are asking that something be done. Seattle is acknowledging this situation by creating "safe" parking places specifically for the homeless who are living in cars and campers, so long as said campers can stay "clean and honest".

Parking is something you do while awake. Camping is a reasonable term to use when you sleep. Most neighborhoods don't want campers on their street; they are generally wider than a car and can cause access problems besides being unsightly. Most businesses do not want overnight camping in their parking lots; it is their private property and they get to decide.

I do think there is needless emotion in the title of the thread that is not supported by the article itself.

Have you been to downtown Seattle lately? If you have and have been in the out lying areas, you would be able to see why the city is cracking down

We had similar issue in Fresno area where the old road along the tracks had quite a few junk rv parked along there and it was a mess.

Converted to a no parking area by just adding signage and they moved on.

So California people are mean spirited too. LOL It has nothing to do with spirit, it has all to do with protecting yourself and family from undesirable innovations.

Our main library has pretty much been taken over by drifters. The good thing is its close to the jail.
