Locking hitch receiver pin, lost key...

I have a locking hitch pin securing my towbar from theft, uses one of those round keys. Key has escaped and run away. Need to remove the towbar. Suggestions?

try to contact company and have key code off lock. May need proof of purchase.

or a sawzall and a metal bit to cut the end off the pin.

Lock it down with some ViceGrips and then use a sawzall.

You may even be able to grab both ends with ViceGrips or even pipe wrenches, and twist, breaking the lock.

Have been told that if you put the right size pry bar between lock and hitch, will pop it off,
just like thieves do.....

I cut locks off all the time at work with a handheld grinder and a diamond blade

My and my Father-in-law's Blue Ox lockable pins take the same key. Maybe find someone else with the same brand pins and try it?

Yep a grinder. I keep one handy. They will pretty much cut through anything. Bikes thieves live by them.

Worked on it some more today. It's a better lock than would have thought. Compounded by the receiver blocking tool access. As the old saying recommends: 'if you are using brute force and not succeeding, more brute force us needed'. (-:

Tried a 3' crowbar - no-go. The inside edge of the cylinder is rounded so no edge to get a hold...

Reciever structure and safety chain loops block access to cutting tools.

There is no problem so great it can not be overcome by sheer ignorance and brute force. If at first you do not succeed, get a bigger hammer.

My career in the fire department taught me these two sayings.

Maybe slide a piece of sturdy pipe over the lock, and work it side to side. Basically see if you can break it off.
