What do you use to document your travels and also keep records of expenses for travels and repairs? A computer program designed for it or just plain old lined tablet?

I use MS Excel. I set up a spreadsheet for every winter trip plus I have one for gas/fuel and campground/nights spent. If I'm on a metered electric site I monitor by KWH usage and check the campgrounds billing in another spreadsheet.

We have a computer program to do it, but I don't remember where we got it. It is on MM's computer, maybe she can chime in with the answer later..

We used our word processor and prepared a form on 8.5x11" bond paper and keep them in a 3 ring binder, works for us.

Actually, I don't use anything. I do keep a good watch on the preventative maintenance and we have a photo album on the computer of all the spots we stay at and a small album with 3X5 pictures in it so we can show them, but that is all. I figure it just don't matter, we are going to go whatever it costs, so go on and enjoy it, try not to think of how much it costs.

I keep a small 5"x5" tablet in the drawer next to drivers seat. I record mileage, date, total M/H miles, engine hours, how many gallons, MPG, cost/gal, total cost, and location. I also make an entry whenever I have the M/H serciced with appropriate notations. On the back side of the page I keep a log of daily travel: Date, where to where, mileage and campground/RV park.

I use the camping journal log book, as I am not that computer savy. Its a good book and I enjoy keeping a record.

Created a 4x6" Excel sheet that fits in a 4x6 3 ring notebook. Keeps a record of the miles, gallons, prices, mpg, and any other interesting costs.

Thank you all for your replies, all as great and varied as this site. Because we are both fairly computer literate and use the computers quite a bit our inclination is to go with a packaged program, probably the one MM and SacsTC have been using. We have been looking at that program for a while and just wanted to get some input from others.

Thanks, Mike

I'll vouch for the RV'ers notebook also. It's good for keeping track of all the other toys too. Happy Trails!!

I like the idea. Not just a mileage/maintenance log, but a actual RV log. One that stays with the RV unit the RV is retired! Like a Navy Ships Log.
