Looking to get a bigger 5th wheel

I currently have a Jayco Eagle 30 ft that I tow with my 2009 GMC 2500 HD duramax, it tows it great but I am thinking of possibly getting a slightly bigger 5th wheel 35 ft or so....my question is for the size of my truck and considering I do a lot of long highway driving as well as mountain driving what can I safety pull with this truck? I know what the owners manual says but that's not reality....anyone have the similar truck? What do you feel safe pulling with it?

Glad you're aboard. I'm sure you will find many opinions on your question. The key concern is the pin weight of the 5er exceeding the GAWR of your vehicle. Best of luck in your decision. Enjoy your adventures and be safe.

I've got a 3/4 ton crewcab diesel, and it's supposed to be good for towing 13,200 lbs.

Unfortunately, 3/4 ton trucks' weakness is not in the drive train but in weight carrying capability--Pin Weight.

I thought my truck would pull one of my favored fivers--like a Big Horn or a Montana. But dual rear wheel trucks are really required for such a trailer.

I've found fifth wheel model with a 11,000 dry weight and a 2,000 dry pin weight. That's about all I feel comfortable towing.

My truck's long since paid for, and I just don't care to drive dual wheel trucks around our community.
