I don't understand why people bother to post tips and tricks that they must know are not worth a split.

Sorry I didn't post pic first time but I am running close to IRV2 limit on attachment storage space due to all my MOD posts. Sometimes words are just not enough. So here it is. I experimented with several different anchors and found the one with three sections worked best. Piece on right is a section cut out of the one on left. You are right that toothpicks, golf tees etc. are not going to work well in something like hollow wall covered with 1/8" luan such as commonly found in RV's.

I use this style wall anchor for my hollow walls:

I find that it works really, really well. It basically goes through the hole and then toggles back out behind the panel, locking it in place. It provides some tension to the screw which keeps it from backing out and it spreads the load around to keep the hole from stripping out. I've found them for sale at Walmart and Home Depot.

For cabinet screws I use the match stick trick, or for more lost causes I drill the hole out bigger, insert a hardwood dowel, glue it, and trim it flush, and screw the screw back into that.
