Mail services

Any suggestions on how to handle our mail when we are traveling throughout the country for approximately 7 weeks? We have made arrangements for paying the bills, and most of our mail is junk. But
there will be some we may need to take care of. Please advise your experiences with this issue.

You might try Passport America. They have a mail forwarding service.

We are using our local UPS Store. We pay $15 per month for a mail box there and used the USPS online function to do an address change for temporary forwarding of our mail. Our mail is forwarded to the UPS store and they ship the mail to us when we call them. They only ship what we want and are holding the rest for us. If we were full time we would use one of the RV focused mail forwarding services but this is for a 3 - 4 month trip.

We are F/T and UPS does a fine job for us. About $60 per year plus about $7 per requested shipment to where we are camped. So, about $100 per year. Works great!

We don't F/T but do extended trips in the summer and fall months. Luckily we have a daughter who is as responsible as her mother and can be relied on to take care of bills and such. The non-essential mail gets a basket until we return and can look them over. 90% are junk mail anyway.

When we're gone for 10-11 weeks in the summer, we have post office forward mail to our son's house. He will scan and e-mail anything of importance we might get.
