We have traveled to lots of countries and to this day Mexican cops have still been the most helpful. The military guys were good as well. We have spent a few nights at military check points when we mis-calculated our travel day and needed a place for the night. Very hospitable folks.

Good for you, 25 years spent in Mexico, 2 to 6 months at a time and I like the Mexican cops.
